Reflection:
My experience with the MSed: IT Program and the electronic PortfolioI created this electronic portfolio as my exit requirement for the MSEd: Information Technology Program at Western Oregon University. Throughout my program, I created many artifacts including written essays, audio and video files, screen casts, lesson plans, and many other web 2.0 projects. I have included several of these artifacts within my portfolio and they are organized according to the NETS for Teachers.
I used the website: www.weebly.com as the platform for building my portfolio and I felt it was very easy to use and it made the process a lot of fun for me. I was able to create numerous pages and subpages to keep my portfolio neat and organized and the given tools made it easy to embed several types of media within the pages (although I did have to research a few codes here and there to do so on the free account). I have had a wonderful experience in the MSEd: Information Technology Program as well as with creating this digital portfolio. I feel that I have learned a lot about technology and its many possibilities both in general and in education. I know that through this program, I have grown as an educator in that I have further developed my philosophy of education and have learned a great deal about technology and its potential in the classroom. I have also grown as a writer. The essays within this portfolio are examples of this and I have to thank Gregory Zobel for his helpful comments and suggestions to strengthen my writing skills. Electronic portfolios are an excellent way of displaying professional work and can also be a great tool in the classroom. These portfolios can be a great way of collecting students work and also getting students excited about displaying that work. I recommend using them for both educational and professional purposes. |
